Ebenezer Onyeagwu has been recognized as the ‘Best Banking CEO of the Year in Africa’ at the International Banker 2024 Banking Awards, marking his second consecutive win.
The award, featured in the Spring 2024 issue of International Banker Magazine, United Kingdom, coincides with the completion of Onyeagwu’s five-year tenure as Group Managing Director/CEO on May 31, 2024.
Expressing his gratitude, Onyeagwu stated, “It is indeed an honor to be recognized as the ‘Best Banking CEO of the Year in Africa’ for a second consecutive year.
This award is a testament to our team’s collective efforts and our commitment to innovation, growth, and delivering value to our customers and stakeholders.”
During his tenure, Onyeagwu has steered Zenith Bank to numerous accolades, including ‘Bank CEO of the Year’ by Champion Newspaper in 2019 and 2023, and ‘Bank CEO of the Year’ by BusinessDay Newspaper from 2020 to 2023. Zenith Bank was also named ‘Best Bank in Nigeria’ multiple times and received various awards for corporate governance, financial performance, and sustainability.
Under Onyeagwu’s leadership, Zenith Bank achieved significant milestones in financial performance, financial inclusion, and corporate governance, earning the bank recognition both locally and internationally.
