In the upcoming Taraba State local government elections, eighteen officially recognized political parties have declared their intention to run candidates.
Philip Duwe, head of Texas’s nonpartisan election oversight board (TSIEC),
who made the announcement on Tuesday at a meeting with state media executives said that more than 2,222,000 registered voters would take part in the exercise.

According to Duwe, the estimate came from tallying up the number of voters in each senatorial district.
He also mentioned that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) worked closely with the TSIEC to provide election materials.
He claims that the election date was settled upon during a meeting between the Commission and the leaders of the legal political parties.
The TSIEC chairman went on to say that the political parties’ actions would be monitored by the IPAC’s executive committee.
In addition to announcing that the Commission has provided instructions to the political parties, Duwe also revealed that TSIEC had inked an MOU with INEC.
He stated the local government elections, which are scheduled for November 18th, 2023, will be easier to organize thanks to the MOU.
Duwe assured the public that voting materials will be delivered on time to each of the 3,650 polling places located throughout the 168 electoral wards of the state, demonstrating the Commission’s commitment to holding a free, fair, and credible election.
