While recounting the progress of Mr. President’s transformation agenda from January to December, 2013 at a World Press Conference held in Abuja on the eve of the new year day, the Minister of Information and Supervising Minister of Defence, Mr. Labaran Maku said 2013 is the 99th year of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which has recorded tremendous progress.
When he was tracing the history of Nigeria from 1914 to date, the Minister said the country has presently witnessed good roads, modern infrastructures, airports, universities and that most of her citizens has won international award and recognition, citing the likes of Wole Soyinka and Chinua Achebe, unlike in 1914.
He said that there has been a lot of discovery in the area of Medicine and Agriculture which he said, was a result of human activities.
He also said that as Africans, we must be proud of Africans, as Nigerians we should be proud of our country “because a beautiful country like this can never be found anywhere in the world.”
