First Batch Of Jigawa Pilgrims Airlifted To Saudi Arabia From New Airport

HajjNo fewer than 530 intending pilgrims were airlifted from Jigawa to Saudi Arabia on Saturday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.

The first set of pilgrims left at 5:30 p.m. via Max Airlines in Dutse International Airport.

The Chairman of Jigawa Pilgrims Board, Falalu Gantsa, said the board had processed 1,500 visas for the intending pilgrims, while the remaining ones were being expected.

Mr. Gantsa said 2,421 pilgrims would be airlifted from the state to perform the 2014 hajj.

He disclosed that the second batch of 600 pilgrims would depart from Dutse Airport on Sunday.

The chairman said all the intending pilgrims had undergone medical examination to ensure their fitness.
