Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu (Jagaban of Borgu) has emerged the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primary for the 2023 general elections.
Tinubu scored 1271 votes to beat the other contenders in the primary. The next in three line are Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi with 316 votes, Vice President Yemi Osibanjo with 235 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan with 152 votes.
The race was not easy as 14 aspirants jostle for the 2320 delegate votes across the 36 states of Nigeria. 9 aspirants either stepped down or withdrew from the race. Specifically, 6 aspirants (Governor Kayode Fayemi, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Professor Ajayi Borofice, Barrister Uju Ohanenye, Senator Godswill Akpabio and Governor Abubakar Badaru) step down for Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu. Former Senate President Ken Nnamani withdrew from the race while Pastor Nicholas Felix stepped down for Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
As shown in the number of votes ranked below, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu emerges the party’s candidate for the 2023 presidential election with total the highest number of votes.
