Prof. Wole Soyinka, a literary legend, has said unequivocally that LP presidential candidate Peter Obi did not win the 2023 election.
Soyinka claims that Obi did not even place second in the poll and came in at a dismal third.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s victory was maintained by the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) on Wednesday, but his opponents have pledged to appeal to the Supreme Court.

Atiku Abubakar, who placed second in the election for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi, who placed third for the Labour Party, both contested Tinubu’s victory.
Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, claims to have won the election, while Soyinka claims that Obi did not even come in second.
Two things happened in the most recent election. In an interview that went viral on X, he added, “One party took over the Labour movement, which is one of my favorite movements also.”
It was a wonderful link between the two entrenched factions until it became a provincial party. Peter Obi did something so extraordinary that he shattered convention. Yes.
But despite his best efforts, he lost the election. I worked for a watchdog group. I can state with absolute certainty that Peter Obi’s party did not even place second, let alone win.
However, they plan to employ what is known as “gbajue” in Yoruba, which means “force of lies.”
They’re going to bring out the hard-core supporters, the throngs, and the young people to protest.
To quote, “I’m always ready to be a part of such demonstrations, but only under the banner of truth.”
