The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has declared that the 2027 general elections will serve as a referendum on the perceived failures of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led federal government.
The party made this known during an interactive session with journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, where its National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, accused the APC of plunging the country into deeper insecurity, economic hardship, and poor governance.
Ologunagba said the PDP is strategically positioning itself as a credible alternative to “rescue Nigeria from the misguided policies and propaganda” of the ruling party.

“This government has shown gross inability to address critical national challenges. In two years, over 600 Nigerians have been killed. That’s on record. Yet, the government celebrates defections like it’s celebrating a successful policy. That’s an indictment,” he stated.
He criticized the APC for its alleged indifference to the suffering of citizens, noting that more than 100 million Nigerians now survive on less than $2 a day.
Taking a swipe at the government’s handling of the economy, the PDP spokesperson questioned the transparency of the administration’s financial decisions, particularly the $24.5 billion loan request aimed at cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
“The president asked for a $24.5 billion loan to cushion the effect of subsidy removal. Two years later, where is the money? We were told subsidy removal would free up funds — where are the results?” Ologunagba queried.
He also accused the APC of fostering a one-party state agenda, warning that such a trajectory poses a grave threat to Nigeria’s democratic principles.
“The PDP remains committed to multi-party democracy. A vibrant opposition is essential for accountability and good governance. The APC’s apparent appetite for a one-party state is dangerous and unacceptable,” he said.
Ologunagba concluded by reaffirming the PDP’s readiness to reclaim power in 2027, stressing that the party would continue to mobilize Nigerians for what it described as a collective rescue mission.
