Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, has said that his re-election bid for a second term in office in 2027 will be determined by divine guidance.
Otti made the statement on Sunday during a civic reception organized in his honour by the Oha Isiala Ngwa—the people of Isiala Ngwa North and South Local Government Areas—at the Okpuala Ngwa Stadium.
During the event, his Oha Ngwa clan unanimously endorsed him as their sole candidate for the 2027 governorship election.

While acknowledging the endorsement with gratitude, the governor emphasized that he would continue to seek the face of God before arriving at a final decision.
“Just like 2023 was in the hands of God, 2027 will also be in the hands of God. While I appreciate your endorsement, which I understand to be a recognition of the work done so far, I will continue to consult with God, and in due course, I will make my position known,” he stated.
Governor Otti highlighted Aba’s critical role in the state’s economic strategy, noting that investments in the city were geared towards boosting internally generated revenue to fund state-wide development.
“Aba occupies a central place in our development strategy—not just for Abia, but for the South East and South-South. The city’s economic potential is key to our vision for statewide development,” he said.
He reassured the public of his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, announcing that the Mgboko–Ntigha road project remains on track for completion by December.
On the Abia Airport project, Otti clarified that its location in Nsulu was determined by technical assessments, not political considerations. He added that all verified landowners had received compensation, with outstanding issues tied to incomplete documentation.
The governor also welcomed defectors from the PDP, Accord Party, and the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), who formally declared support for the Labour Party.
As part of grassroots development initiatives, Otti announced plans to upgrade the Sam Ihesiulo Stadium in Okpuala Ngwa, directing the Commissioners for Works and Youth & Sports to begin immediate action.
Lawmakers including Rep. Ginger Onwusibe, Senator Darlington Nwokocha, and Hon. Collins Iheonunekwu lauded Otti’s achievements and called on him to seek re-election, citing his success in infrastructure and good governance.
