The Ebonyi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru would step down after completing a single four-year term in office, describing such reports as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Sunday by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Ogbuatu Chidi Simbad, the party emphasized that no such agreement was ever reached at any point within the party or by the governor.
“Let this be clear: Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru is not leaving after four years. There was no agreement to the contrary, and any such claim is false and misleading,” Ogbuatu said.

He noted that since the creation of Ebonyi State, no governor has ever served only one term, adding that historical precedence supports continuity.
“There was never any agreement to stop a man who is fulfilling destiny. Now, a few individuals who once watched from the sidelines are trying to distract and confuse the people.
But their imagination only reveals the content of their own minds. Ebonyians know better,” he added.
Ogbuatu stressed that the APC in Ebonyi State would not succumb to intimidation or external pressures, reaffirming that the party’s strength was built on unity, peace, humility, and good governance.
“The strength of the APC in Ebonyi was not built through intimidation or force. It was built on unity, humility, peace, and most importantly, good governance.
The government’s unwavering commitment to fulfilling its promises has earned her the trust and love of the people,” he said.
The party further commended Governor Nwifuru’s leadership and developmental strides, describing his administration as visionary and committed to building a greater Ebonyi.
“It is no longer news that Ebonyi State, under the dynamic leadership of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, is on the right path to greatness.
This administration is focused on building a stronger, better state. Governance is a continuum, and this present government is committed to sustaining progressive policies for lasting economic and infrastructural growth,” he added.
Ogbuatu also revealed that the APC State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, had embarked on a reconciliation tour across the 13 local government areas and 171 wards, meeting with aggrieved members to foster unity and inclusiveness within the party.
