Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, has explained how President Bola Tinubu could help secure support from the South-West for an eventual Igbo presidency.
Soludo said the South-East’s support for Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 could encourage political understanding and strengthen the chances of the region producing a future president.

According to him, Nigeria’s presidency requires dialogue, negotiations and political agreements among the country’s major political interests.
The governor noted that power rotation remained an important consideration in the country’s political arrangement, suggesting that after Tinubu’s tenure, the presidency could return to the North before eventually moving back to the South.
Soludo’s remarks come amid growing political discussions over the possibility of an Igbo president and the alliances that could shape the 2027 general election and subsequent political developments.
He also indicated that the political process would require strategic engagement rather than assuming that any region could secure the presidency without the support of others.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has indicated its willingness to work with the Tinubu administration, with the party’s position reflecting an interest in maintaining a constructive relationship with the Federal Government.
Soludo’s name was reportedly included in the APC presidential campaign council, alongside other prominent political figures, including Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike.
The development has attracted attention because of its potential implications for political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections.
APGA spokesperson Ejimofor Opera reportedly described the party’s engagement with the Federal Government as a strategic move aimed at strengthening cooperation and ensuring that the South-East benefits from national political arrangements.
Soludo’s position underscores the role of negotiations and cross-regional alliances in shaping discussions about power rotation and the prospect of an Igbo presidency in Nigeria.
