The Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the death of a 24-year-old man, Dada Adesonye, who reportedly committed suicide by hanging in the Afami area of Imasayi, Yewa North Local Government Area.
InfoStride News gathered that Adesonye was found hanging from a tree early on Thursday morning.
The incident was reported to the police at about 8:27 a.m. by an employee of Dangote Cement Transport, located along Ibese-Afami Road.
The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, who confirmed the incident, stated that officers conducted an investigation and found no signs of violence on the body. She further disclosed that the deceased’s body had been released to his family for burial.
Odutola said:
“On October 18, 2024, at approximately 8:27 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer received a report of a suspected suicide. An employee at Dangote Cement Transport in Ibese informed the Dangote Police Post that he discovered the lifeless body around 8:10 a.m.”
“During the investigation, officers took photographs of the scene, which revealed no signs of violence.
Personal items recovered from the deceased’s pockets included a payment card, a key holder, an earbud, and N2,000 in cash.”
Odutola noted that the case remains under review and assured the public that further information would be provided as needed.
She also urged families to pay closer attention to their loved ones in light of increasing reports of youth suicides.
