A multi-million naira flyover bridg e under construction in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Thursday collapsed, killing three persons on the spot while two persons sustained serious injuries, according to reports.
The victims of the collapse were indigenous workers of Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC) Limited, the construction firm handling the project for Delta State government.
The Delta State Government had recently assured that the N8 billion Warri and Asaba Flyovers currently under construction would be completed by December.
The victims were said to be carrying out deep excavation at the base of the pillars that will suspend the flyover, when the sand caved in, buryng the workers alive.
