A total of 325 personnel of the Nigeria Police Force have completed specialized training on the handling of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) threats.
The participants, drawn from police commands across the 36 states of the federation, underwent a four-week intensive course at the Police Mobile Force Training College, Ende Hills, Nassarawa-Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
The Commissioner of Police in charge of EOD and CBRN, Hauwa Ibrahim, described the training as a major step in enhancing the Force’s counterterrorism capacity and operational readiness to tackle insecurity across the country.

She explained that the course covered detection, identification, and decontamination procedures, noting that it was part of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun’s strategic initiatives to strengthen the operational efficiency of the Police in addressing terrorism and other national security threats.
According to Ibrahim, the officers were exposed to modern anti-terrorism techniques and are now equipped to deactivate explosives and respond effectively to CBRN emergencies while ensuring public safety.
The Commissioner commended the trainees for their dedication and discipline throughout the programme and urged them to apply the knowledge gained to support anti-bomb squads in their respective commands.
She also appreciated the instructors and partners who contributed to the success of the training and appealed to members of the public to promptly report any suspected explosive devices to the nearest police station.
The Commandant of the Training College, DCP Sunday Peter, represented by CSP Alhassan Abdulazeez, praised the Inspector-General of Police for prioritising continuous training and capacity building for personnel, noting that the success of the course reflected the Force’s commitment to professional development.
