A 34-year-old man, Segun Adegbite, was found dead with machete wounds at a construction site near WitchTech Factory along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident to Newsmen on Tuesday.
According to Odutola, the incident was reported by one Adedeji Adegbola to the Sagamu Police Division on Monday.
Adegbola said he was informed of the situation by Hassan, a local security guard attached to the site, who reported a violent altercation between Adegbite and some unidentified individuals.
“The incident was reported to the Sagamu Police Division by Adedeji Adegbola, who resides along Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos,” Odutola stated.
She added, “Adegbola said the local security guard, Hassan, informed him around 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024, that a violent confrontation was taking place between the deceased and unknown persons.”
Upon receiving the report, detectives were dispatched to the scene, where they found Adegbite’s lifeless body lying in a pool of blood, with multiple machete wounds.
A blood-stained machete was recovered at the scene, and the body was taken to Live-Well Morgue for autopsy.
Odutola revealed that the security guard, Hassan, had fled the scene, possibly for his safety, and confirmed that an investigation into the killing had commenced.
“The police have launched an inquiry into the incident to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder and apprehend those responsible,” she said.
