Exactly 11 years ago, December 4, 2015, history was made when American rapper, 50 Cent was confronted by Nigerian rapper, Eedris Abdulkareem in a Lagos airport.
50 Cent was billed to headline the annual Star Mega Jam when the mild drama ensued aboard an ADC airline from Lagos to Port Harcourt. Back then, it was reported that Eedris attempted to sit in a seat reserved for 50 Cent, but was prevented from doing so.
An enraged Eedris protested, resulting in a battle inside the airplane at the tarmac of the domestic wing of Murtala Muhammad Airport.
Feeling disrespected, 50 Cent left Nigeria without completing performances, after performing only in 2 out of the billed 4 shows.
Eedris claimed he was protesting the difference in treatment given foreign and local acts during the musical tour. 3 years later, in 2007, 50 Cent was back in Nigeria to perform at media launch of the KORA Awards in Abuja, and this time, Eedris publicly apologised to him on stage.
