A 50-year-old farmer, Alfa Mustapha, has been shot dead on his farmland in Ageri Village, near Olodo, Odeda Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Mustapha’s lifeless body was discovered lying face-up with his cutlass beside him.
Discovery of the Body

Reports indicate that the deceased left for his farm on Saturday morning but failed to return home. Concerned about his whereabouts, the Chief Imam of Ageri Mosque, Moshood Mustapha, went in search of him at about 6:02 p.m. and found his body.
Confirming the incident on Sunday, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, said the Imam reported the case at the Olodo Police Outstation at about 6:30 p.m.
Police Investigation
“Upon receiving the report, officers visited the scene, took photographs, and moved the corpse to the General Hospital, Odeda, for medical examination,” Odutola said.
Initially, no visible injuries were detected on the body due to heavy rainfall and poor visibility at night.
However, a medical examination later revealed that Mustapha had suffered bullet wounds from pellets, indicating he was shot at close range.
Following this discovery, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, ordered an intensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.
He urged anyone with relevant information to come forward, assuring that the police would ensure justice is served.
