The Governor of Benue State, Reverend Fr. Hyacinth Alia, has reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to protecting the safety of educational institutions.
On Thursday, September 14, 2023, in the IBB Square in Makurdi, during the closing ceremony and launch of the Safe Schools Special Response Team for North Central Nigeria, Governor Alia made the announcement.
Although crises like conflicts upset the nation and the state, he said, the government and stakeholders can play important roles in preventing problems like gang violence, extremism, abuse, and prejudice in schools.

This information was released in a statement by Sir Tersoo Kula, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary.
According to him, the Benue State Safe Schools Response Coordination Center will be set up in Makurdi, next to the Aper Aku Stadium, with government approval and the donation of a Facility.
His next statement was that “Government would assist the Federal Government to renovate the building for the center.”
In a statement, he praised the North Central Private Guards Companies and Vigilante Groups, as well as the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), the Female Squad Commanders from all 36 states and the FCT, and the organizers of the Capacity Development Training for Safe School Response Team.
