Nasarawa State’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has asked its supporters to celebrate the party’s recent victory at the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in a calm manner and refrain from any disruptive actions.
In a statement issued on Saturday, the party’s publicity secretary, Ibrahim Hamza, urged its followers in all 13 of the State’s local government areas to celebrate in a responsible manner and without creating any problems.
According to Hamza, the triumph was anticipated because the party was confident it would win the election.

He emphasised, however, that party members and supporters needed to keep their cool and celebrate the triumph in a way that wouldn’t cause too much trouble for the residents of the state.
He also mentioned that the party has asked its members and supporters to hold any festivities outside of party headquarters and away from the governor’s candidate’s home.
He praised the tribunal’s meticulous work and stressed that the conclusion was grounded in the merits of the case rather than in procedural details.
“We want to commend the members of the Nasarawa State tribunal for the painstaking attention to details, and the decision that was arrived at based on the merit of the case,” the PDP spokesman said.
The tribunal chaired by Justic Ajayi ruled that PDP candidate David Emmanuel Ombugadu won the governor’s race on March 18, 2023.
The original results from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had predicted that All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate Governor Abdullahi Sule would be elected.
