On Wednesday, Amos Yohanna, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, or PDP, was given the oath of office necessary to become the senator representing the Adamawa North Senatorial District.
Yohanna’s oath of office was given to her by Jibrin Barau, who serves as the Deputy President of the Senate.
According to InfoStride News, Elisha Abbo, who had been representing Adamawa North, was removed from his position by the Court of Appeal the previous week.

The decision came after Yohanna filed a complaint with the tribunal against Abbo, the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), contesting the outcome of the senate election. The complaint was followed by the ruling.
He stated that Abbo’s election had to be annulled due to the fact that corrupt activities and non-compliance with the terms of the Electoral Act, 2022 had occurred throughout the election process.
Yohanna further mentioned that there was an excessive number of votes cast at numerous polling places, that there were bogus entries, and that there was tampering with and cancellation of ballots at several polling places.
The petition that Yohanna submitted was initially denied, but it was later validated by the appeals court.
