Elder statesman and founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has voiced his deep concern about the deteriorating security situation in Nigeria.
During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, George lamented the state of the nation, describing it as being in “perpetual despair and despondency.”
He highlighted issues such as widespread hunger, growing public anger, and the escalating insecurity that has spiraled out of control.

George acknowledged President Bola Tinubu’s immense task ahead and expressed readiness among Nigerians to give him the necessary time to address the challenges.
Referring to Tinubu’s New Year speech and objectives for the year, George stressed the need for unity in addressing the nation’s issues, emphasizing that this is not a time for political games but a critical period for national unity and progress.
He expressed hope that Tinubu’s outlined objectives, including national defence, internal security, and job creation, would be effectively pursued to address the country’s pressing issues.
While acknowledging that the previous administration, under the same party as Tinubu’s, had not performed satisfactorily, George urged Nigerians to give the new administration a chance and observe how it tackles the challenges.
George concluded by expressing his confidence in Tinubu’s leadership, saying, “Bola Tinubu, God will guide him.”
