Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has issued a directive for all former political appointees to return immediately all official vehicles in their possession.
The directive, conveyed through a statement signed by Oguwike Nwachuku, Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the Governor, instructs the Managing Director of Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), Hon Chief Charles Orie, to take custody and conduct a proper inventory of these vehicles.
The directive applies to all former Principal Officers to the Governor, former Commissioners, former Special Advisers, and former General Managers of Government Agencies, among others.

Governor Uzodimma had earlier directed, on January 16, 2024, that Commissioners should return their official vehicles to the Permanent Secretaries in their ministries, while Special Advisers should submit theirs at the Office of the Chief of Staff.
While some appointees complied, others have not, raising concerns about their motives.
In response, Governor Uzodimma has tasked Chief Orie with ensuring compliance, using all lawful means to enforce the directive.
The statement emphasized that compliance is immediate and non-negotiable, indicating the seriousness with which the Governor regards this matter.
