The Nigeria Police authorities have taken disciplinary action against officers involved in the alleged extortion of 3,000 USD from a resident of Port Harcourt.
According to a statement by the Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Sunday, Inspector Michael Odey has been dismissed, while ASP Doubara Edonyabor and ASP Talent Mungo have been suspended from office.
The statement clarified that Inspector Michael Odey had already been dismissed, effective from February 7, 2024, following thorough Orderly Room proceedings and a comprehensive review conducted by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16.

The suspension of ASP Doubara Edonyabor and ASP Talent Mungo was officially approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
The Police Public Relations Officer assured the public that the indicted officers had been arrested, and investigations into the allegations were ongoing.
She reiterated that the outcome of the police investigation would be made public.
