Chief Ifeanyi Chukwuma Odii, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in the 2023 election in Ebonyi State, has reiterated that the party remains deeply rooted at the grassroots level in the state.
Odii’s statement comes in response to the defection of some PDP members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), which he views as an opportunity for the PDP to strategically prepare for future elections.
In a statement released on Friday, Odii encouraged PDP members and supporters to remain resolute and focused on the tasks ahead, emphasizing that the party and the ‘Anyi Ga Emeya Movement’ are undeterred by recent developments.

He acknowledged the recent wave of defections in various states, including Ebonyi, attributing them to the aftermath of the 2023 general elections and personal survival needs.
Despite these challenges, Odii expressed confidence in the PDP’s ability to rebuild and strengthen its presence in Ebonyi State.
While acknowledging the right of individuals to join any political party of their choice, Odii emphasized that the PDP in Ebonyi sees the defections as an opportunity to rejuvenate and prepare for future electoral victories.
He urged party members and supporters to remain committed to the PDP’s values and ideals, emphasizing the importance of accommodating only those willing to contribute positively to the party’s growth and development in the state.
