The principal and Examination Officer of Government Day Secondary School, GDSS, Salihu Dogo in Jalingo, Taraba State, have been suspended following allegations of sabotaging the state governor’s free education policy.
In a letter issued by the State Ministry of Education, the principal, Haruna Joshua Assembo, and the Examination Officer, Ezekiel Rimamsikwe, were accused of selling West African Examination Certificate (WAEC) and National Examination Certificate (NECO) exam slots to external candidates for personal gain.
Both exams were supposed to be free for all intending students in the state, as the state government had released funds for their payment to alleviate the economic burden on parents and guardians.

An investigative committee has been set up by the Ministry to look into the matter and determine the suspects’ levels of involvement.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Principal, Administration, has been tasked with overseeing the school’s affairs, and the Examination Officer has been instructed to hand over his office pending the investigation’s outcome.
