The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed an investigation into alleged contract fraud amounting to $8 billion involving former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, and other individuals in the aviation industry.
Chairman of the EFCC, Ola Olukoyede, clarified during a media briefing in Abuja that the probe extends beyond Sirika to include several officials who have worked in the ministry in recent years.
Olukoyede emphasized that the investigation is part of the EFCC’s mandate to ensure accountability and protect the national interest.

He cautioned against characterizing the probe as targeting Sirika personally, stating, “Don’t make it look like EFCC is running after Sirika. No, it’s the system.”
He further explained, “We are investigating the Ministry of Aviation and when the time comes for us to release the report or go to court, you will see the details.
Now, it’s too premature for us to reveal what we have discovered. We are making progress.”
The EFCC chairman assured that the findings of the investigation will be made public once concluded.
