The Delta State House of Assembly has suspended Matthew Omonade, the member representing Ughelli North I Constituency, over alleged gross misconduct.
The suspension order was issued by the Speaker, Dennis Emomotimi Guwor, following a motion raised by the Majority Leader, Emeka Nwaobi, and supported by the Chief Whip of the House, Perkins Umukoro.
The motion was unanimously adopted by the House.

Omonade was accused of willfully and falsely perverting the proceedings of the House on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. The Majority Leader stated that Omonade’s actions violated the standing order and rules of the House, warranting the suspension.
As a result, Omonade has been suspended for a period of 14 legislative days and has been instructed to hand over all government properties in his possession to the House management.
Announcing the decision, the Speaker cited the House of Assembly (Powers and Privileges) Law and the Standing Orders of the House.
He directed the Sergeant-at-Arms to escort Omonade out of the Assembly Chamber.
