The Jigawa State Police have arrested two suspects for allegedly threatening to kidnap a businessman and members of his family.
Police Spokesman DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the arrests in a statement issued to media outlets.
According to the statement, “One Dauda Adamu, 52, of Zadau village, B/Kudu LGA, reported at the B/Kudu Division that unknown persons called him on the phone and threatened to kidnap him and his family if he did not give them money.”
Upon receiving the report, officers from the B/Kudu Division launched an investigation.
Following a tip-off, Ahmed Audu of Basirka town, Gwaram LGA, and Adebayo Abayomi of Ogigi village, Ijumu LGA, Kogi State, were apprehended and brought in for questioning.
DSP Shiisu stated that during interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The SIM pack of the number used to call the complainant was also recovered from them.
The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for further investigation.
