Ex-Arsenal defender, Per Mertesacker has come out to blast England and Gareth Southgate for playing like Union Berlin against Denmark. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the game vs Denmark was very disappointing to see from England-s point of view, especially when the same struggling players thriving for their club sides.
Per added that maybe the English players are simply worn out and exhausted after the long EPL season.
Her words, “That was very disappointing. Many players work in England under Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta. But here they can’t do anything. Are they worn out and exhausted after the long season? I can’t say.”
Christoph Kramer added, “Anyone who has a squad like England cannot play like Union Berlin,
I feel sorry for the players, they will be angry because they have to play this kind of football\ Kramer added, highlighting a potential disconnect between the coach’s strategy and the players’ capabilities.”
