Primate Elijah Ayodele, the Leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has advised Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to appeal to the Nigerian government for his release to avoid a dire fate in detention.
During the launch of his 30th “Warning to the Nations” at his church in Lagos on Saturday, Primate Ayodele cautioned that Kanu faces the risk of dying in jail if he does not seek the government’s clemency.
Kanu has been held by the Department of State Services (DSS) since June 2021 under orders from the Nigerian government, despite court grants of bail which have not been honored.

Primate Ayodele also predicted the eventual breakup of Nigeria, asserting that neither Kanu nor the Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, would be the catalysts.
He foresaw Nigeria’s division occurring peacefully without bloodshed, starting from the Northern region.
He remarked, “Nigeria will break but not through Nnamdi Kanu or Sunday Igboho. Kanu should beg the government before he is released or else he will die in jail.”
Ayodele expressed a belief that spiritual forces aligned against the unity of Nigeria are at work, suggesting that national prayers alone would not suffice to prevent the country’s fragmentation.
As Southeast governors and senators explore political solutions to Kanu’s prolonged detention, Primate Ayodele’s advice underscores the delicate nature of the ongoing agitation and the potential consequences of prolonged legal battles.
