Authorities in Anambra State have confirmed the rescue of six journalists who were kidnapped while traveling to Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Wednesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed that security operatives were still working to rescue the seventh victim.
“Joint security forces have successfully rescued six members of the media crew who were abducted while traveling from Lagos to Uyo along the Isseke-Orlu Road in Ihiala,” Ikenga stated.

“Operations are still ongoing for the possible rescue of the seventh crew member.”
Earlier reports had indicated that there might have been more than seven journalists in the group, as a source told Newsmen that while seven had been rescued, the whereabouts of four others remained unclear.
Further details on the total number of victims are yet to be confirmed.
