The member representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives, Rep. Charles C. Odedo on Monday defected from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
His defection has dealt a further blow to any plans by the APC to displace PDP as the majority party in the lower chamber.
Odedo is billed to formally present his letter of defection to the Speaker of the House, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal today.
The lawmaker, who was at the Wadata Plaza national secretariat of PDP in Abuja yesterday, said his decision to dump his party was as a result of the prevailing peace and internal democracy in the PDP as well as recent moves by the Adamu Mu’azu-led NEC to carry everybody along in the scheme of things.
Welcoming Odedo into the fold, the National Publicity Secretary of PDP, Chief Olisa Metuh, tasked the lawmaker to ensure that he delivers 98 percent of votes in future elections to the PDP and to deliver the 3 senatorial zones and all the federal constituencies to the party, stressing that people in the North and entire Nigerians have rejected the APC.
