Suspected bandits attacked the residence of Maharazu Dayi, Chairman of Malumfashi Local Government Area in Katsina State, killing a police officer during the assault.
The assailants fatally shot Police Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal in the attack, which occurred on Tuesday.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, confirmed the incident, stating that the officer was rushed to the hospital but was later pronounced dead.

“The attack occurred on Tuesday, and our officers responded swiftly. The officer was transported to the hospital, where he was confirmed deceased,” Sadiq said.
He further disclosed that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing.
While it remains unclear if there were other casualties, reports suggest that security personnel successfully prevented the attackers from breaching the chairman’s residence.
A witness, who spoke anonymously, confirmed that Dayi and his family were at home during the attack.
