Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has cautioned the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against actions that could threaten Nigeria’s democratic process, particularly in Osun State’s local government administration.
Makinde issued the warning on Sunday while speaking in Osogbo at the swearing-in ceremony of the 30 newly elected local government chairmen.
The election, held on Saturday across all 30 local government areas of Osun State, was won by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Addressing the gathering, Makinde urged APC not to exploit federal power to subvert democratic institutions.
He emphasized that any legal disputes should follow due process rather than resorting to force or self-help.
“We just want to peacefully deliver the dividends of democracy to our people. So, nobody should resort to self-help,” he stated.
He further advised the newly elected chairmen to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring good governance at the grassroots level.
Makinde also remarked that if APC had a court judgment in its favor, it should allow the legal process to take its course, stating that “true democrats would not want a resort to violence.”
