The All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth League has stated that while Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has the right to express her grievances, her approach was disruptive to the peace and sanctity of the Nigerian Senate.
The league described her actions as an “unnecessary affront” that was harmful to the Senate as an institution.
The National President of the league, Olamide Lawal, made this assertion while addressing journalists over the weekend.

Face-off with Akpabio
InfoStride News reports that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, clashed with Senate President Godswill Akpabio during plenary over a new seating arrangement and accused him of sexual harassment.
Following the heated confrontation, she was suspended on March 6 for six months without pay. In response, she filed a contempt suit against Akpabio and other Senate leaders while also reporting the case to the UN Inter-Parliamentary Union.
APC Youth League’s Stance
Reacting to the controversy, Lawal urged the senator to reconsider her approach and promote a peaceful and respectful atmosphere in the Senate.
“As responsible and respected youths of the APC, we urge Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan to reflect on her actions and consider the consequences of her behavior,” he said.
He further emphasized that the Senate’s decision to suspend her, as recommended by the Senate Committee on Ethics and Public Petitions, had been widely commended by various groups.
“The six-month suspension is a significant consequence that underscores the importance of maintaining order and decorum in the Senate. It will serve as a deterrent and a lesson to all moving forward,” Lawal added.
