The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad (CG’S SIS) of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has impounded a long caravan truck with an in-built tank fully loaded with stolen crude oil in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
National Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, CSC Afolabi Babawale, confirmed the development in a statement on Monday, disclosing that the truck was intercepted in transit around Eleme Flyover in Elelewon, Port Harcourt, following an intelligence tip-off.
According to the CG’S SIS Commander, Commandant AS Dandaura, operatives were swiftly deployed to the crime scene, where they impounded a red-head navy blue container truck with registration number AGL 574 XY.

The truck was reportedly fully loaded with illegally siphoned crude oil from vandalized wellheads and pipelines.
Dandaura stated that the suspects abandoned the truck and fled upon sighting security operatives.
He added that investigations have commenced to track down the syndicate behind the illicit operation, describing it as a major act of economic sabotage.
“For the records, the exhibits recovered at the point of arrest include: a red-head and navy blue container truck with 10 tyres (Reg. No. AGL 574 XY) and an estimated content of about 70,000 litres of stolen crude,” he said.
Dandaura further revealed that upon the conclusion of the investigation, the NSCDC would file for forfeiture of the truck and its contents in a court of competent jurisdiction.
Proceeds from the forfeiture, he said, would be remitted to the Proceeds of Crime Account (POCA).
Reaffirming the squad’s commitment to combating oil theft, Dandaura assured that all individuals involved in the crime would be brought to justice after a thorough investigation.
