New polls conducted by leading American media houses have revealed a growing loss of confidence among citizens — including members of the Republican Party — in President Donald Trump’s administration.
Surveys by the Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, New York Times/Siena College, Fox News, and Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos highlight widespread dissatisfaction with Trump’s performance on key issues such as the economy, immigration, and executive powers.
According to the polls released this week, a majority of Americans describe Trump’s second term so far as “scary.” Only 24% of respondents believe the President has focused on the right priorities.

Over half of voters disapprove of his overall performance, and majorities oppose his tariff policies and cuts to the federal workforce.
The Associated Press-NORC survey found that even among Republicans, only 54% said Trump was focused on the right priorities, while just 9% of independents agreed. Overall, just 39% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the presidency.
A New York Times/Siena College poll released Friday reported Trump’s approval rating at 42%, plummeting to 29% among independents. Additionally, 59% of voters said the President’s second term has been “scary,” with more than half believing Trump is “exceeding the powers available to him.”
The Times also found that approval of Trump’s economic management has fallen sharply, with only 43% now supporting it — a significant drop from 64% in April 2024.
On immigration, a Washington Post-ABC-Ipsos poll indicated that 53% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s policies, while 90% of Democrats, 56% of independents, and even 11% of Republicans expressed dissatisfaction.
Fox News polling showed further declines, with just 38% approving Trump’s handling of the economy and 56% disapproving. Meanwhile, an NBC Stay Tuned survey found that 69% of Generation Z respondents disapprove of Trump’s management of the economy and cost of living, citing struggles with rent, inflation, and a desire for broader social protections.
The new data comes as President Trump approaches the 100-day mark of his second term in office.
