Immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has distanced himself from recent All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairmanship campaign posters spotted in various parts of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.
In a statement issued on Thursday by Michael Ohiare, Director of the Yahaya Bello Media Office in Lokoja, the former governor described the posters as the handiwork of mischief makers bent on tarnishing his reputation.
Ohiare expressed surprise over reports suggesting that Bello had begun campaigning for the APC’s top leadership position, noting that the former governor remains a loyal party member with no such ambition.

“They (the mischief makers) are at it again, having failed on many fronts in their desperate ‘bring-him-down-at-all-costs’ mission,” the statement read.
He explained that while such reports would typically be ignored, the recurrence of these unauthorised posters has compelled the camp to speak out.
“As a committed party man, his support for President Bola Tinubu’s leadership has never been in doubt,” Ohiare said, emphasising that the purported chairmanship ambition does not reflect Bello’s political position or intentions.
He maintained that nothing could have come from Bello in that regard, especially as party structures and procedures for leadership succession remain firmly in place.
“Since this is not the first time mischief makers have printed posters in his name, silence is no longer an option,” he added.
Ohiare further clarified that no individual or group had been authorised—either directly or indirectly—to print or circulate any political posters on behalf of the former governor.
He urged the public to disregard the posters and to treat them as part of ongoing efforts by certain individuals to embarrass and distract Yahaya Bello.
The statement concludes by reaffirming Bello’s unwavering loyalty to the APC and his commitment to supporting its leadership and unity.
