The paramount ruler of Yankuzo in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Alhaji Babangida Kogo, who was abducted by armed bandits on Tuesday, has been released.
The monarch was reportedly seized by the gang of notorious bandit kingpin, Ado Allero, hours after a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) airstrike killed dozens of suspected bandits in the area. His captors allegedly suspected him of aiding the military operation.
According to sources, he was abducted along the Mararraba axis while fleeing his community following the deadly air raid, which targeted a forest enclave between Yankuzo and Munhaye.

The strike reportedly left more than 30 people dead and several others injured.
The traditional ruler returned to his palace on Thursday after spending several hours in captivity. Security sources said he was released without ransom after the bandits concluded he had no involvement in the attack.
“They interrogated him and found that he had no hands in the airstrike,” a source confirmed.
