Popular singer Ed Sheeran has weighed in on Skepta’s recent comments about UK rappers defeating US rappers in a rap battle. He recently revealed that determining the best rap country will always be down to cultural preference.
Speaking on the latest episode of Complex’s GOAT Talk, Ed Sheeran shared that rap fans in France will always claim French rappers are the best, while American fans will choose US rappers over anyone else.

According to him, people will mainly choose the rappers they understand more, and there’s a higher chance they’ll understand the lyricists from their country than foreigners.
The “Thinking Out Loud” crooner stated that he connects to UK rappers more because he can relate to their verses and records.
“I think it’s all culture. I think if you go to France and you ask, ‘Who’s the best rapper?’ They’re going to say a French rapper. If you go to Germany, do the same thing.
I understand British rappers more,” he said.
Ed Sheeran further noted that it is easy for him to be a Stormzy fan because he can see things from the rapper’s point of view.
“I can relate to Stormzy’s tunes more than I can relate to whoever’s in America,” he added.
On his favourite rap album, Sheeran disclosed that it would be between albums released by Shady Records and Aftermath Entertainment, such as The Game’s “The Documentary,” Eminem’s “The Marshall Mathers LP, “and Dr. Dre’s “2001.”
Rounding up with his favourite British rappers, the singer listed Wretch 32, Devlin, Skepta, and JME.
