The All Progressives Congress (APC) has declared that defections from its fold remain minimal compared to the growing number of politicians joining the party on a daily basis.
National Chairman of the APC, Prof Nentawe Yilwatda, made this assertion on Wednesday while speaking on Sunrise Daily, a Channels Television programme.
According to him, the ruling party continues to attract lawmakers and political leaders from rival parties, further proving its popularity and dominance in the country’s political space.

“We have minimal defection — very minimal compared to people who are trooping in every day,” Yilwatda said.
He added: “If you look at the members of the National Assembly, state assemblies, and governors who are trooping back into the APC from other political parties, it tells you that APC is still the most preferred political party, and we are still receiving more people.”
The APC chairman stressed that efforts are ongoing to reconcile with members who had earlier left, assuring them that the ruling party remains their political home.
“This shows the kind of popularity and acceptance the APC has. I cannot say that one or two persons from APC may not want to move to the other side, but overall, defections from our party are very insignificant compared to the influx we receive daily,” he maintained.
