The presidency has outlined major reforms introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in the education sector, highlighting initiatives designed to strengthen learning and improve access for Nigerian students.
Special Assistant to the President on Social Media, Olusegun Dada, disclosed the reforms in a statement posted on his X account on Saturday.
He explained that the measures are part of the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at repositioning education as a driver of national development.

According to Dada, one of the flagship policies is the Student Loan Scheme, designed to expand access to higher education by offering financial support to students. He also confirmed the reinstatement of history as a core subject in Nigerian schools, a move widely welcomed as essential for preserving national identity and cultural awareness.
Other reforms include the launch of the National Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI) – Education for Renewed Hope Roadmap, which sets out a comprehensive strategy for overhauling the sector. The roadmap prioritises a curriculum review to strengthen entrepreneurship, digital literacy, and civic education, ensuring that students are better equipped for the modern economy.
In addition, the government has begun the expansion of the school feeding programme, now supported by digital registries linked to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), to improve accountability and ensure more children benefit from the scheme.
“These ongoing reforms in the education sector are in line with the #RenewedHope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration,” Dada stated.
The presidency maintained that these interventions demonstrate President Tinubu’s commitment to delivering long-term solutions to challenges in the education system and to laying a stronger foundation for Nigeria’s future.
