No fewer than 774 members of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rimin Gado Local Government Area of Kano State.
The defectors were formally received into the ruling party on Friday by the Managing Director of the Hadejia-Jam’are River Basin Development Authority, Rabiu Bichi, who commended them for taking what he described as a “bold and timely decision.”

Bichi said the APC remained the only political party capable of driving Nigeria toward meaningful development, adding that several projects executed by President Bola Tinubu’s administration in the northern region reflect its commitment to national growth.
He disclosed that over 18 major projects valued at billions of naira have been completed in Kano State alone, describing the achievements as tangible evidence of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Bichi, however, lamented that some state governments diverted substantial federal funds meant for development into unrelated sectors.
“The Renewed Hope Agenda is already delivering positive outcomes, including economic recovery and strengthened food security through various agricultural programmes,” he said.
He assured the defectors of full integration and equal treatment within the party.
Leader of the defectors, Mohammad Karofin-Yashi, said their decision was motivated by the APC-led administration’s developmental strides.
He expressed confidence that the APC would take Kano and Nigeria to greater heights, pledging to bring more NNPP members into the ruling party in the coming weeks.
