Police Probe Hotel Room Death as Suspect Flees in Ondo

The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of an unidentified woman found in a hotel room in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.

The victim’s body was discovered on Wednesday at a hotel located along the Ore–Okitipupa Road, close to the Ore–Okitipupa highway corridor in the southern part of the state.

InfoStride News gathered that the man who checked into the same room with the deceased was not present when hotel staff made the grim discovery.

A hotel staff member, who requested anonymity due to the sensitivity of the matter, said the pair checked in together earlier in the day, before the woman was later found unresponsive on the bed.

“They came in together, but when one of our staff went to the room, the woman was already lying lifeless on the bed, and the man was gone,” the source recounted.

The worker added that hotel management immediately alerted other staff and reported the incident to the police. No visible injuries, signs of violent struggle, or indications of physical assault were observed in the room at the time of preliminary checks.

Confirming the development on Thursday, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, said detectives had begun intelligence-led efforts to identify and track down the fleeing suspect.

“Yes, the incident was reported, and an investigation has commenced. We are working to identify and apprehend the man who fled,” Ayanlade stated.

The deceased woman’s remains have been deposited at a morgue within the community, as forensic, hotel register analysis, and operational inquiries continue.

The Ondo State Police Command urged the public, hoteliers, and residents along the Ore–Okitipupa corridor to report any useful information that can aid the investigation and help apprehend the suspect.
