A farmer identified as Magaji Mai’aya has been confirmed dead, while several others including a police officer sustained injuries following a violent clash between farmers and herders in Yelwan Musari village, Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
An eyewitness, Ado Musa, told newsmen that armed herders invaded the community between Saturday and the early hours of Sunday, burning houses and local rice-milling factories during the attack.

He said the confrontation was the latest eruption in months of rising tension after the killing of another farmer, Ya’u Namara, by herders last year.
According to him, the attackers also blocked the Guri–Hadejia highway, preventing residents from transporting injured victims to the Hadejia General Hospital for urgent medical attention.
Musa added that security operatives arrived late at the scene and were unable to immediately restore order, as both sides had already engaged in violent confrontations since Saturday afternoon.
It remained unclear at the time of filing this report whether the herders recorded any casualties.
Attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer in Jigawa State, Lawan Adam, were unsuccessful.
