The Igbo Community Association has said the Social Democratic Party (SDP) chairmanship candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Obinna Simon, popularly known as MC Tagwaye, has pledged to end double taxation in parts of the council if elected in the 2026 polls.
The association’s President-General, Ikenna Ellis-Ezenekwe, made this known on Monday during a conference in Abuja.
According to Ellis-Ezenekwe, MC Tagwaye also promised to curb what he described as needless demolition of properties in AMAC, adding that such actions negatively affect residents of the Federal Capital Territory.

“We studied his manifesto. Among other things is his desire to stop double taxation in AMAC,” he said.
“Needless demolition will be curbed legally with a human face. These two issues affect common residents in the FCT. This is sufficient for us, not just because we are Igbo, but because we are residents in the FCT,” Ellis-Ezenekwe added.
He therefore called on residents of AMAC to rally behind Simon’s candidacy in the February 21, 2026, chairmanship election.
