The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has urged Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to begin preparing to leave office ahead of the August 15, 2026, governorship election, claiming that the people of the state have rejected his administration.
MURIC made the call in a statement issued on Monday by its Executive Director, Prof. Ishaq Akintola.
The group alleged that Governor Adeleke had failed to meet the expectations of the people, citing the reported damage to a recently commissioned flyover in Osogbo, which it claimed occurred barely three weeks after the project was inaugurated.
MURIC also accused the governor of favouring his hometown, Ede, in the administration of the state and criticised what it described as his handling of local government affairs.
“As preparations for the gubernatorial election in Osun on August 15, 2026, enter top gear, we remind Governor Ademola Adeleke to start packing his dancing kits out of Oke-Fia Government House before it is too late,” the statement read.
The organisation further criticised the governor over what it described as the damaged flyover, the alleged “Edenisation” of governance, the handling of local government affairs and alleged examination malpractice.
“For the flyover damaged after three weeks, for the alleged ‘Edenisation’ of governance, for alleged mishandling of local government affairs, alleged examination malpractice, etc., we can’t look away.
“Governor Adeleke has crossed the Rubicon. He will be roundly defeated in the coming governorship election in Osun on August 15, 2026. That will be his punishment for playing on the intelligence of Osun Muslims,” MURIC stated.
Governor Adeleke had not responded to the allegations at the time of filing this report.
