Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, has warned his critics that neither he nor the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, can be pushed out of politics.
Fayose made the remarks during an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday.
He recalled how Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, sought his support during the 2023 governorship election, noting that he stood by Oyebanji during his crisis within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“You can’t sack Wike from Rivers politics. You can’t sack me from Ekiti politics. Three years ago, Governor Oyebanji, who was contesting at the time, visited me to seek my support. I didn’t go to him; he came to me, and that’s a line of wisdom from Oyebanji,” Fayose said.
He added that when Oyebanji faced challenges within the APC, he personally intervened by engaging President Bola Tinubu in his favour.
“When Governor Oyebanji was having issues in the APC, I stood my ground and went to Asiwaju (President Tinubu) and told him that Oyebanji is the man who can win the election,” he stated.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain also spoke on political loyalty, citing Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, as an example of humility towards his predecessor and political benefactor, Yahaya Bello.
“Look at Kogi. Why is Governor Ododo being so humble? Whatever you say about Yahaya Bello, he doesn’t want to hear it. He remembers the day Yahaya Bello gave him that platform,” Fayose said.
He further advised Oyebanji against speaking ill of his predecessor, former Governor Kayode Fayemi, stressing the importance of respect for political benefactors.
“I told Governor Oyebanji that whatever former Governor Fayemi must have done to you, don’t speak ill of him. If it were other people, they would have taken advantage of the situation,” he added.
