Former Kano State governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has expressed sadness over the decision of the Kano State Government he helped bring to power to leave the Kwankwasiyya movement and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso spoke after Abba Kabir Yusuf and his allies were officially received into the ruling party.
In a video shared on Facebook, the former governor said he could not understand why the government formed under the Kwankwasiyya structure was suddenly moved to what he described as Gandujiyya — the political bloc associated with former governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

“This government was formed with a lot of sacrifice, but without any clear reason that we know, it was taken away from our Kwankwasiyya structure and moved elsewhere,” he said.
Kwankwaso described the development as painful and disappointing, noting that only God knows the real reason behind the decision.
He added that he was praying for a positive outcome for his supporters despite the situation.
The former governor also congratulated members of the Kano State House of Assembly who won the recent elections in Ungogo and parts of Kano Municipal, although he noted that voter turnout was low.
Kwankwaso concluded by wishing Kwankwasiyya supporters well, stating that those who followed the government into the APC could still return, as the movement’s doors remain open.
