The National Assembly Liaison Officer to Abia State Governor, Iheanyi Frank Chinasa, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Chinasa, popularly known as Dogo, was until his defection a close ally of Governor Alex Otti and a prominent member of the Labour Party in Bende Local Government Area and Abia North Senatorial District.

The politician, who is aspiring to represent Bende Federal Constituency, joined the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, at a meeting of APC stakeholders held in Owerri, Imo State. The meeting was convened by Governor Hope Uzodinma on Sunday.
Chinasa had previously contested the 2023 election for the Bende Federal Constituency seat but lost to Kalu.
Confirming the development, Kalu welcomed Chinasa into the APC fold, describing him as a grassroots politician.
“Dogo (Chinasa) ran election with me in Bende for the House of Representatives and was later appointed by the governor as National Assembly Liaison Officer.
“He is from Bende and from Ikwu Isii, my own section of the constituency, and today, he has come to join our party (APC). I am sure he will feel welcome,” Kalu said.
