The National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress, Bolaji Abdullahi, has disclosed that former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, once threatened to leave the coalition over alleged preferential treatment for Peter Obi.
Abdullahi made the disclosure during an interview on Symfoni TV on Thursday.

According to him, Amaechi complained that the party leadership was conceding too much influence to Obi within the coalition structure.
“There was a time that His Excellency Rotimi Amaechi went to the national chairman and was threatening to leave the coalition. You know why?” Abdullahi said.
“He felt that the chairman was pampering Peter Obi – that he was conceding everything to Peter.”
The ADC spokesman explained that one of his deputies was nominated by Obi, adding that no member of the National Working Committee, NWC, could be identified as loyal to Amaechi.
“I cannot point at anybody in the NWC that you can say is an Amaechi man.
“I doubt if Atiku can say okay this is my person I nominated,” he stated.
Abdullahi also revealed that the National Organising Secretary position was eventually allocated to Obi’s camp after the former Labour Party presidential candidate joined the coalition.
According to him, former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, had initially worked extensively for the coalition and was interested in the role before Obi’s entry.
“He was hoping to be the National Organising Secretary but when Peter Obi came, to give him a sense of belonging, that’s how we lost Osita because we then gave that position to Peter Obi,” he added.
Rivers APC Appeal Committee To Release Final List Of Cleared Aspirants
The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress House of Assembly Screening Appeal Committee has said the final list of cleared aspirants will soon be released.
Chairman of the committee, Abdul Mahmud, disclosed this on Thursday.
Mahmud confirmed that 58 out of the 65 aspirants earlier disqualified by the screening committee appeared before the panel to appeal their disqualification.
“98 persons were screened by the committee. Again, I must emphasize, I didn’t screen those 98 individuals nor did my colleagues.
“Thirty-three were cleared to go to the next stage, and 65 were not cleared for some reasons. I have seen their documents, gone through documents, spoken to the appellants since yesterday. We spent close to 10 hours straight hearing oral testimonies of appellants who appeared before us,” he said.
